History

Yarrow has a long history in European folklore and traditional herb lore. Its association with Achilles has given it a particularly strong place in ancient stories, while its traditional names of bloodwort and woundwort reflect its historic association with wounds.

The name Yarrow is thought to come from the Saxon gearwe. Across centuries, Yarrow has remained a familiar plant in the countryside and in traditional herb gardens, with its folklore continuing into modern magical practice.

Witchcraft Uses

Traditionally associated with love, protection, courage, psychic powers and divination.

Yarrow is commonly used in magical practice for spells and rituals intended to dispel negative energy and encourage emotional strength. The stalks have also traditionally been used for divination, making Yarrow a popular herb for practitioners working with psychic awareness and spiritual insight.
